VCI Solutions Joins Forces with Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity
Springfield, MA, May 4, 2009 - VCI Solutions, a provider of software solutions for broadcast and cable operations, kicked off their first Habitat for Humanity effort last week in Monson, Mass. This activity is one of the many initiatives that VCI Solutions has implemented to demonstrate their forward thinking vision for the future; in the industry, the environment, and their community. VCI Solutions just gave away an all-electric car on Earth Day at the NAB Show. Now they are taking their commitment to the streets of their community where the VCI Solutions team joined forces with Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity to participate in building a local housing project. 
This effort not only proved to be a volunteer opportunity, but a learning one as well. The VCI Solutions’ team performed both indoor and outdoor construction projects on a three-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath home to be completed later this year. Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that has built homes for 33 families locally and 79 families internationally since it first opened in 1987. The home currently under construction in Monson is the local affiliate’s 35th house. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent homes with the help of the homeowner (partner) families.
“We are continually looking for new ways and events that provide us with an opportunity to make a positive impact in the environment and community,” said Deborah MacGilvary, VP of Human Resources, VCI Solutions. “We are excited to be able to work with Habitat for Humanity to make a difference in our community. At the same time these efforts not only motivate and inspire our team members, but serve as a great team-building exercise where we all work together and support one another.”
Jennifer Schimmel, Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity’s executive director, said she was thrilled to welcome VCI Solutions to the affiliate’s volunteer base.
“Forming partnerships with businesses like VCI Solutions is critical to our success, and our ability to meet our mission,” said Schimmel. “We are so appreciative when people from the community come together to help make this dream a reality for local families in need.”
